Herb Federation of New Zealand Certificate Study Scholarships

Terms & Conditions

Objective

The objective of the Study Scholarships for the Certificate Course is to encourage and support members of the Herb Federation of New Zealand (HFNZ) to increase their knowledge, of the growing and use and enjoyment of herbs in their everyday lives.

The Scholarships

There are two Scholarships currently available. Both allow the successful applicants to study the twelve modules of the HFNZ Certificate course at no cost.

  • HFNZ Scholarship is sponsored by the Herb Federation of New Zealand.
  • The ‘Heather Young Scholarship has been created in memory of the late Heather Young (see below).

The Scholarship will meet the cost of the fees involved in purchasing the twelve study modules over a maximum three year period. If the course is not complete within this time frame, or they otherwise default on their Scholarship requirements, the recipient must repay fees for all modules reveived to date, and forfeits the right to reapply for any Scholarship managed by the HFNZ in the future.

The Late Heather Young

Heather Young was a long time avid and active supporter of the growing and use of herbs, was an enthusiastic gardener, and had a real thirst for knowledge. She expressed a wish to encourage and support others to satisfy their thirst for this knowledge.

She was one of the founding members and a Life Member of the Katikati Herb Society, and Life Member of the Herb Federation of New Zealand.

Who would qualify to be awarded the Study Scholarship

To be eligible to be awarded either the Study Scholarship, applicants must be financial “Individual Members” of the Herb Federation of New Zealand.

NOTE: An Individual Member of the Herb Federation of New Zealand, is a person who pays a membership subscription directly to the Federation. It is not essential that an applicant be a member of a Local Herb Society, but membership and support of a Herb Society if there is one in your area, is desirable.

Application to be considered for Study Scholarship must be made using the application form.
